LATINA UGANDA – Day Three – Wednesday 19th June 2013

June 19, 2013

We are progressing steadily into serious stuff here at LATINA Lab Uganda. We’re indebted to our partners at LATINA Lab Oslo for the continued support. Each new day is a day of discovery for the participants.

Each second, minute, hour, a photo is taken, so do you ever ask yourself where those beautiful photographs are kept? Do you ever worry about storage? Did you know that you can tell a digital story using your beautiful photos say for example about your trip/travels/adventures?

Today, we shall explore Picasa Web Albums, Photostory, Dropbox, etc. Just watch the space!

with Latina training l have learnt many things like creating blogs which l have realized that they are of great importance when it comes to information sharing and dissemination to users its made easy, with google translator i can now translate statements, questions from one language to another so with this if am on the reference desk lets say a French man comes with google translator l can easily answer him without any difficulties.

Good morning our good facilitators, from day one to date i have learnt many skills including map reading, creating blogs, how the teaching mode has changed to flipped class room which is beneficial to students in that they learn while practicing while the lecturer gives assistance, google talk, google translate, google drive where i can send my document or work to a friend and he or she comments or edits it,presenting work either in slide form or any other form, then count the traffic which helps one to present their work they have observed and make decisions in a numeric format either in graph form or pie chart form. For example one can observe readers behavior in a particular section say the reference desk and make a report in google chart about them.
This training is beneficial to me in that i will apply the skills say in user education i can present the information to the students using google slide, deal with different languages of our clients using google translate, also posting developments on my blog. Thank you.

LATINA has definately spiced my life up. I had very high expectations, some of them being; learning how publish on the web, how to using photography for teaching and learning, Video editing, to mention but a few.All these expectations have been met and i hope to put the knowledge and skills acquired to my day to day practice. I most definately will use the blog to interact with users in my Library and also network with colleagues and professionals from all over the world.Through LATINA i have learnt a lot about Google. Before LATINA, i was using Google only as a search engine and for emails but now, i can store and share my information on Google Drive, create Documents on Google Docs and also arrange my gadgets using igoogle. This makes work so easy and interesting.

Today, i am very excited about the Photography session, i hope to learn to take great photos and videos, edit them and also be able to tell stories through my photos. I am very interested in learning how to create good documentaries. I believe LATINA will equip me with the much needed skills and knowledge. Thank you.
