LATINA UGANDA – Day Four – Thursday 20th June 2013

June 20, 2013

Audio-visual Production

Libraries build and manage audio-visual collections in order to support the teaching, learning and research at parent institutions. However, for quite some time librarians have been consumers rather than producers of such materials.

LATINA UGANDA participants will be introduced to Video production and it is believed that at the end of day, participants will have projects to exhibit. Believe me, we’re dealing with creative minds, energetic and innovative people.

Now you are talking, however, I am eagerly waiting to see the product you will come up with.

True, audio-visuals aid teaching and learning. This is what I’ve been waiting for.
However, most people lack the skill of developing these items. I strongly believe that the moment the developing skills are acquired, audio-visuals will always be used. My assumption is that the participants will put the acquired skills into practice.

Good day to you all LATINA 2013 Class.

It is true people lack these skills but I have also noticed that few people are willing to invest in training. So how do you acquire the skills if you can’t invest in training? We’re always waiting to be sponsored by donor agencies and our institutions.

Latina is still interesting,i wish it could not end and we practice forever. Videography will help me make presentations in the section and the Library at large.

Good morning our facilitators, Yesterday was a wonderful day because we practiced videography in groups and we shared ideas which guided us in our work.

The Videography session was the most engaging and time consuming as well but very exciting. I now know abit about what movie producers go through to come up with good movies. I have come up with a product but i believe i still have a long way to go to be a producer. However, i am better than yesterday and with practice and more time, i will do a much better job. Videography is very helpful both at work and in our social lives. We spend money on hiring other people who may not even give us a good product. With this acquired knowledge and skills, the sky is the limit.

The teaching was relevant because,i learnt how you create a digital story using photos
to explain the certain things and i will be able to create stories in my working place to teach
others, taking photos and produce video.
